Bayer is taking Baycol (cerivastatin) off the market
August 2001
Bayer is taking Baycol (cerivastatin) off the market...due to continued reports of severe muscle damage.
This has been a problem with higher doses of Baycol...or when used in combination with gemfibrozil (Lopid).
Patients will now have to switch to one of the other statins... Lescol, Lipitor, Mevacor, Pravachol, Zocor.
